This summer I reflected on past and future, the places I hope to one day be, and the people who bring me happiness and encouragement to get there. The two pieces based on memory are "Hang me up to dry" and "Sabirnicous". "Hang Me Up To Dry" is named by a Cold War Kid's song. This summer my friends and I went to their concert. I mixed that memory and included elements that represent a time my friend and I tie-dyed shirts together, and a symbolic Vietnam Veteran shirt to represent a family friend who passed away. To draw this project, I hung the tie-dye shirt I made with my friend in different angles to study the way cloth hangs and folds. The glass jar oil painting was a practice on oils. The chameleon prisma piece, "Psychedelic Chameleon", was inspired by a Valspar commercial. My other painting is the dark piece with the night sky, "Road to Boone", which is a mix of moments I remember from my first trip to Boone, and I emphasized the colors in the sky, as I was inspired by past trips I have taken to other places. In "Road to Boone" I mixed past and future. A piece not shown in the picture above is called "Spaced Out", which I experimented with a grunge style and an imaginative feel of when I close my eyes I am somewhere else.
~Enjoy!~
